This position leads the overall store operation including responsibility for sales, customer service, human resources, profit and loss, inventory, expense management and store presentation. Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for staffing, scheduling, and maintaining associate availability to ensure schedules match workload
  • Manages direct reports, systems and projects to achieve unit goals in accordance with Kohl’s policies and practices
  • Communicates repair/maintenance needs in a timely manner
  • Ensures total store cleanliness and recovery standards are met
  • Manages store payroll projections, productivity and controllable expenses in relation to sales trends
  • Prepares and analyze unit plans and reports
  • Supervises associates to drive productivity through best practices
  • Interprets, directs and leads store merchandising and presentation directives and standards are met
  • Leads Loss Prevention initiatives and inventory control programs
  • Leads/directs associates in the standard for customer issue resolution
  • Creates an effective work environment by developing a common vision, setting clear objectives, expecting teamwork, recognizing outstanding performance and maintaining open communications
  • Oversees all price changes, call backs and inventory initiatives are executed to Kohl’s directive
  • Develops staff through coaching, providing performance feedback, providing effective performance assessments and establishing performance and development plans
  • Leads associate recognition programs
  • Ensures Store pricing guidelines are maintained in accordance with Kohl’s/legal guidelines
  • Coaches and counsels associates when necessary
  • Maintains associate files and documentation in accordance with Kohl’s policy/legal requirements
  • Manages delivery of hourly training programs
  • Reviews business summary reports for sales opportunities and report inventory needs or opportunities to Supervisor
  • Ensures all building safety requirements are adhered to
  • Manages the interview and hiring process to maintain proper staffing levels
  • Accountable for freight/receiving best practice execution
  • Provides leadership by exhibiting influence and expertise, thus affecting the results of the operating area
  • Communicates operational and sales strategy to Store Associates
  • Oversees Point Of Sale functions
  • Directs merchandise presentation and store visual workload

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds on an occasional frequent basis Greater than 50 pounds = one associate per 50 pounds
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of work time standing or moving about the store. Physical activities include bending, stooping, lifting, climbing, carrying, walking and/or reaching on a frequent basis
  • Proven ASM who is results-oriented, builds teams and partnerships and capable of breaking down complex processes so that others can understand and execute
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Retail or related field preferred

  • Efficient planning and organizational skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others
  • Ability to recognize and understand available resources and utilize them to meet and exceed the store’s sales plan and expense controls
  • Ability to lead and develop associates
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with a variety of internal and external audiences
  • History of anticipating challenges and developing solutions to problems at hand
